PLANTER BOXES/GREEN AREA
To waterproof a planter box, thoroughly clean and prepare the interior surface and determine which waterproofing system to use. Options include Liquid and Sheet Membranes.
Preparation:
- Clean the planter box: Remove all dirt, debris, and any old paint or sealant.
- Smooth the surface: Sand any rough areas to ensure a smooth surface for the sealant to adhere to.
- Address cracks and gaps: Fill any cracks or gaps with a suitable sealant or filler, such as Drizoro Maxrest fillet for concrete planters.
- Consider drainage: Install drainage holes at the bottom of the planter box to prevent water from accumulating.
- Prime the surface (if needed): Some sealants may require a primer coat before application.
Liquid Waterproofing
- Choose a suitable sealant: either Fulaflex or Soudal SMX 35 depending on your choice of Membrane (ie Polyurethane or Waterbased)
- Apply the sealant as per the Australian Standards
- Apply a suitable primer
- Apply your choice of liquid membrane:
- Curing time: please refer to the Technical Data Sheet
Final Steps:
- Protect the membrane with Protection Board, Drainage Cell and Geofabric prior to back-filling
Sheet Membrane Option
Only a qualified WeldTec or Torch-on Applicator will be able to assist. We can recommend a local applicator should you require this system.
