Feronite Rust Converter is a water based treatment based on tannin obtained from the bark of certain trees. It also contains other rust retarding compounds. It is brown in colour and the Rust Converter has an unlimited shelf life. It converts the surface rust to iron tanate and can take up to 24 hours to react. It can be applied in most weather conditions, on wet or dry surfaces but not below 5 degrees.
Feronite is very useful where conventional methods of rust removal (shot blasting, chipping) are impractical. The Rust Converter produces a stable surface onto which a primer, then undercoat and top coat can be applied.
